What a beautiful book! The story is so moving. The love between Nana and grandchild just leaps off the page. The colorful illustrations are just as perfect as the story itself. I was happily reminded of all the special moments I shared with my own grandchildren when they were younger and that warmed my heart. Thank you for sharing this story with us all. Brava!!I
I love this book! I love it because it’s warm, and tender, and a story of love. It’s a teaching tool and a fantasy dream world for others. It’s a great bedtime story book. I love the paintings, watercolor, and the color saturation. . It's written in a very personal voice with a call and repeat ("Yippee!" and "I knew she'd say that.") These things delighted my granddaughter when I read it to her for the first time; and she liked the quiet, domestic tone. Don't we all?! If ALL children could experience the care and love conveyed in this book, we’d all have hope! We'll return to this book time and time again. What a wonderful present this book will make (for young mothers, for grandmothers, or a baby shower). I'm going to buy at least 5 more copies for giving to friends and relatives.. Thank you, April!
While I read this story to my 8 yr old grandson, he kept saying, this was us, except he's a boy and he doesn't like to snuggle, but he loves to sit in between me and his grandpa. Lol. It was awesome that he could relate to the story and I sure hope he understands that I also Hug him in my heart all the time. Excellent story book. Loved it.
I have always loved children's story books and reading to children. While spending an overnight many years ago, my now 16 year old granddaughter, Kayla, asked me the question Zoe asks in the book. That question stayed with me, knowing that there was a story in it. In 2020, encouraged to accomplish one big, bodacious goal, I finally finished writing this book and shopped around for a publisher. Finding the illustrator was momentous to see my characters come to life and then, the day the books arrived in December was beyond anything I have experienced before. It was beyond thrilling to actually touch my book. My long held dream of actually writing a book was real.
There are several ideas percolating inside my head for new stories and some drafts are underway to produce a second book. I check in now with my 8 year old granddaughter, Olivia, to bounce my ideas off her and she is very encouraging! My hope is to write stories that resonate with children and families and that promote healthy development, socially and emotionally. Reflecting now, I seem to be returning to my roots in youth development but from a totally different angle as a writer. This is an exciting leg of my journey. Stay tuned!
